The 1st EU-Solaris Doctoral-Colloquium will be held at the PROMES Laboratory, which is located at the Solar Furnace in Odeillo (France), part of the village of Font-Romeu, which is famous for its hours of sun and is reputed to be the sunniest ski resort in France.

How to get to Odeillo ?

The village of Odeillo does not have an airport or big international bus/train stations. However, public transport connects the place with the following cities with international airports and train/bus stations:

  • Barcelona (Spain) - 190 km from Odeillo - Best choice
  • Toulouse (France) - 183 km from Odeillo
  • Perpignan (France) - 90 km from Odeillo

Arriving from Barcelona

A direct train connects Barcelona's main railway station (Barcelona-Sants) with Puigcerda, a Spanish town 15 km away from Odeillo. The schedule of the R3 train line can be found in the Rodalies Catalunya website. You can buy the tickets directly in the Barcelona-Sants railway station.

Depending on the number of participants arriving to Puigcerda, a bus could be offered to drive you to Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via. In the contrary, the best way is to book a taxi from Puigcerda to your hotel in Font-Romeu or the laboratory.

Arriving from Toulouse

A direct train connects Toulouse main railway station (Toulouse-Matabiau SNCF) with Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg, a French village 18 km away from Odeillo. The schedule and train tickets of the TER Toulouse-Matabiau to Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg can be found in the SNCF Connect website.

Arriving from Perpignan

A train line connects the Perpignan main railway station with Via, the railway station of Font-Romeu. A train change is mandatory at the Villefranche-du-Conflent station. However last train is touristic: nice mountains views but longer travel time (~2h from Villefranche to Via). The schedule and train tickets of the TER Perpignan to Villefranche-du-Conflent can be found in the SNCF Connect website.

The bus line 560 connects Perpignan main railway station with Font-Romeu city center. The schedule of the bus can be found in the Lio Occitanie website. The tickets must be paid in cash to the bus driver.

Arriving from Paris

A nigth train connects the Paris-Austerlitz railway station with Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg, passing by Toulouse. The schedule and train tickets can be found in the SNCF Connect website.
